TORONTO –   MediPharm Labs Corp. (TSX: LABS) (OTCQB: MEDIF) (FSE: MLZ) (“MediPharm”, “MediPharm Labs” or the “Company”) a pharmaceutical company specialized in precision-based cannabinoids, is pleased to announce that Harvest Medicine’s study entitled, “Self-Reported Effects of Illness Severity, Depression and Anxiety in Fibromyalgia Patients: A Large Retrospective Case Series” has been published in the peer-reviewed American Journal of Endocannabinoid Medicine. The retrospective study was led by HMED and reviewed data from 805 patients who indicated fibromyalgia as a primary reason for seeking medical cannabis and had a minimum of one follow-up assessment. The majority of patients (76.1%) reported using CBD oil, which aligns with the current practice guidelines for authorizing medical cannabis as an adjuvant therapy for managing chronic pain. T

4 Essential Dispensary Systems

Profitability is a key indicator of a dispensary’s success, but a recent industry survey found only about 60 percent of cannabis operators are profitable. Providing reliable products and services at good prices is only part of the profitability puzzle. Employing the best people and establishing a healthy marketing plan are two more. Arguably, the most complicated part is creating that nebulous intangible known as “community.” How does a dispensary attack all those objectives while remaining compliant with relevant laws and regulations and keeping an eye on the bottom line? Fortunately, automation can help even the smallest operator, and automated tools become more sophisticated by the year. Here are the top 4 tools every dispensary needs in order to run a successful business. 1. Data and analytics Day-to-day operations involve thousands of data points, each representing a crucial piece of information about a dispensary’s performance. Finding a way to represent that data clearly is

U.S. Health Officials Recommend Schedule III for Cannabis

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has recommended reclassifying cannabis from Schedule I to a less restrictive Schedule III under the Controlled Substances Act, following President Biden’s request last year for the Department of Justice (DOJ) and HHS to “expeditiously” reconsider the plant’s classification. In a letter dated Aug. 29, HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine submitted the department’s rescheduling recommendation to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Administrator Anne Milgram, according to Bloomberg News . A DEA spokesperson confirmed the department received the letter and will initiate a review. After the review is complete, the nation’s top drug enforcement agency will forward its recommendation to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland for action. On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the DOJ and HHS were working through an independent process guided by evidence. “We’re going to let that pro

What Have Americans Been Drinking This Summer?

No matter how you pour it, beverage revenue across alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks, hot drinks, and cannabis-infused drinks has been growing each year since 2020. But no drink category comes close to the opportunity presented by the cannabis-infused segment, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of approximately 50 percent over the next five years. Industry brands like Tilray are betting big on the adult beverage category with a recent $85-million Anheuser-Busch deal that triples its beverage portfolio through the acquisition of eight new brands—a massive distribution advantage should federal legalization take hold. But according to data from cannabis analytics firm BDSA, it’s brands like Uncle Arnie’s , Levia , and Keef Cola that have been the most popular infused drink options for American palates and wallets. BDSA’s recent market research on the opportunities in the cannabis beverage market provides an informative look into the growth of the segment, going beyon

6 Top-Rated Dispensaries in Washington, D.C.

Image
With only six licensed medical dispensaries, Washington D.C. is not typically regarded as a cannabis destination. But when you combine the ability to easily self-certify for the district’s medical program with 20.7 million domestic visitors who spent $8.1 billion in 2022, you can understand why it should be up there with places like Denver and Las Vegas . While the law in D.C. reads medical-only sales with adult use decriminalized, the fine print allows for enough finessing that adults 21 and over can essentially walk into a dispensary and purchase cannabis with or without a doctor’s recommendation. The U.S. capital also has reciprocity for individuals with a valid patient registration issued by one of 38 U.S. states and territories. The non-D.C. resident medical cannabis patient registration process is incredibly simple for domestic and international visitors who are at least 21 years old. However, it does require $30 and a small amount of consumer initiative, which can be off-put

4 Things You Can Do to Move Your Business Forward Right Now

We’re about a year into what is undoubtedly the most challenging stretch the cannabis industry has faced since the legalization movement began. The initial hype surrounding the industry’s potential as the next great American boom has slid back to a harsh reality. The combination of local government blunders and federal government inaction , crippling levels of taxation, and an illicit market that largely operates with impunity has mired legal operators with challenges. As a result, businesses are operating in a drastically different climate from the one that attracted so many to the industry. And different climates call for a different way of doing business. We should be asking ourselves, can we operate sustainable, profitable companies during challenging market dynamics ? Are we able to switch our mindset from growth at all costs to survival at any price? These are the moments when the mettle of the entrepreneurs and executives in the space is put to the test. We’ve assembled

LightLab 3 Cannabis Analyzer Chosen by FDA to Enhance Consumer Safety and Regulation in the Cannabis Industry

This move comes after numerous international and state regulatory agencies have successfully implemented LightLab 3 HS to support consumer safety and business licensure. The FDA’s decision to deploy LightLab 3 HS Cannabis Analyzer stems from its commitment to address consumer safety concerns associated with food-related products containing CBD and Delta-8 THC. Over the past six years, the FDA has issued numerous consumer safety notices and letters to companies manufacturing or marketing CBD, and more recently, Delta-8 products that fail to comply with various FDA regulations. In addition, the FDA will potentially play a key role intercepting international and intrastate illicit shipments.
