NORTH SPRINGFIELD, Vermont   – Cannatrol , the new disruptive innovator in precision cannabis drying and curing systems, today announced that it has been awarded a new patent for its Vaportrol Technology® that is changing how commercial and individual users control the cannabis post-harvest process. “Cannatrol’s patented technology takes the guesswork out of cannabis drying and curing to the benefit of growers, processors and end-users,” said David Sandelman, Chief Engineer at Cannatrol and a serial technology innovator.  “Cannatrol eliminates the risk of over-drying. House Appropriations Bill Would Lift FCC Advertising Ban

WASHINGTON – Advertising opportunities for legal cannabis businesses could expand exponentially if a policy rider to the fiscal-year 2023 federal budget remains intact. Verbiage in the Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill advanced by the House Appropriations Committee would prevent the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) from using appropriated funds to act against broadcasters that accept cannabis ads from licensed businesses in legal states. The mechanism is similar to that used in the Rohrabacher-Blumenauer amendment to the annual federal budget, which since 2001 has prohibited the Department of Justice from using its funds to interfere with the implementation of state cannabis laws. National Association of Broadcasters spokesperson Alex Siciliano called the move “a long overdue step” to put radio and television stations on equal footing with websites, streaming media, print publications, and out-of-home advertising companies. None of the latter gro...

Gen Z Is Changing the Face of Retail

Image
In the early 1970s, thanks to a group of teenage friends at San Rafael High School in California who met daily at 4:20 p.m. to smoke cannabis, “420” emerged as code for lighting up. More than fifty years later, April 20 — or 4/20 — has become an unofficial holiday celebrated with festivals, community gatherings, and other events where people can gather and bond over a mutual love of weed. As the cannabis market grows across the nation, an increasing number of consumers view the holiday as a reason to visit dispensaries and stock up on products. Not only does this boom in cannabis-related sales benefit the overall industry, but it also supplies retailers with abundant data regarding the purchasing habits of different demographics . Given the industry’s rapid evolution, it is imperative that businesses review this data to better understand consumers’ desires. The habits and purchasing patterns of Generation Z — people born in 1997 or later — have impacted many industries globally, in...

Finding the Flower Within the Weeds

Image
The green rush for cannabis ignited by adult-use legalization in Colorado and Washington state ten years ago has more and more companies looking to cash in every year. New Frontier Data predicts sales of legal recreational cannabis in the United States will reach $18.4 billion in 2022 and rise to $25.1 billion by 2025. Brightfield Group expects CBD sales to skyrocket as well, forecasting an estimated $7.8 billion in 2022 will grow to $14.1 billion by 2025. And as Forbes reported, many CBD companies are positioning their businesses for marijuana sales. CBD brands possess both the existing cash flow and customer-sanctioned products to finance the transition and ease the stigma for those ready to make the jump to recreational use. Whether promoting the recreational effects of marijuana, the wellness benefits of hemp-derived CBD, or both, the only companies bound to soar above the boom are those that can shine as clear, concise, and consistent brands. Case studies of brands preparing to d...
